Delightful and effective, both as an author-marketing example and as a pitch to pre-order these charming books. Of course I'm imagining my own future trailer, in which I'm sitting in my long nightgown by the window as night runs into morning, and my back hunches over my computer, and I squint at the notes I've penciled on my typescript.... Actually I CAN imagine a short funny video!
Great family photo, Dan, and my 9yo is deep into crafts, as well, including ribbon! She recently made a compartmentalized box for the 21+ feathers she collected last week and decorated the box with ribbons and stickers!

I appreciate this post not only because I believe I will be celebrating holidays with my grandsons with these books. But, the amount of work you have done the last six years to make it. Not like instagram (realizing now what a perfect name for this app) makes everything look so simple and a finished subject is complete in a blink of an eye. Thank you both for the work that went into this post and to the two children books. Very inspiring and can't wait it purchase them.

I loved Rebecca Green’s case study. I feel as though I know her a little bit now, which is so different from just learning about her upcoming book launch. It so inspired me that I gave my own book trailer a boost for my book launch on August 16. I don’t currently have the time or budget for such a creative approach as Rebecca’s, but I was moved to briefly add something about the food and fellowship my characters share, as well as my 10-year process in writing this series. The trailer is no longer just “Here’s what my book is about,” but rather “Here’s how this book came about.” That’s a big difference in my eyes. Thanks for this beautiful story!

This article really got me thinking as someone new to Substack… thank you, Dan and thank you, Rebecca- the relatability of her charming, beautifully illustrated books was very high, especially when I watched her video- that communicated so much and opened a door into Henri and Miko’s world/ her elaborate and creative world…and that is the beautiful trick!
How do I reveal parts of my creative world? How do I convey what is important to me in memoiring my time in Australia in different, engaging, significant ways? Why does it matter to me and how might it matter to others? What are values/ learnings about it that might be understandable/ helpful for my readers? 🙏
Over the years, you've "introduced" me to some magical folks. Today it was Rebecca, with Henri and Miko come to life (AND apple crumble!); some time ago it was Samantha Dion Baker who takes me on city journeys and eases my homesickness.
It's no wonder you love your job Dan! You help artists find the path to share their magic with the world.
